伍步雲照片
Mr. Po wan Ng was born in China. He received his fine art education at the University of Philippines. He began his artist career in Hong Kong in the 1930s. In the post-war era, he painted the sorrow, anger, hardship and hope of the working people of Hong Kong.

In the 60s and 70s he traveled extensively throughout China. He felt excited over the changes in China that scenes of "New China" and its people became his main themes. His works are now considered to be part of the Hong Kong heritage.

In the 1975 Mr. Ng decided to make Canada his home. He is very much attracted by the Canadian scenery, culture and people. Employing western technique and eastern element, he successfully captures the splendors of Canada. His idea of accomplishment is when his viewers can readily recognize that his works are being painted by an oriental artist. In this respect he has made a positive contribution to Canadian multiculturalism.

He uses expressive strokes and rich color combinations to bring his themes to life. All his works reflect the genuine devotion of a master of his Art. Sometimes he paints with ink and water colors, but oil is his specialty.

Mr. Ng's passion for art has driven him to paint for more than seven decades, never stopping in spite of being in his nineties. His works have been shown in over 40 one-man shows in both the continents of Asia and North America. He is represented in museums, galleries and private collections in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Canada and the United States.
